Tessa Thompson Says a THOR 4 Pitch Has Happened and Taika Waititi Would Come Back To Direct

While we have somewhat of an idea of what is in store for the next phase of Marvel Studios’ plan, the full plan has yet to be revealed. There are a handful of films such as The Eternals, Black Widow, Doctor Strange 2, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and a few other we know are in active development. But there are five years worth of movies that we are still waiting to be announced!

There’s a chance that one of those movies could be for a fourth Thor film. In a recent interview with LA Times, Tessa Thompson talked about reprising her role as Valkyrie in Avengers: Endgame, and she also revealed that she heard that a pitch for Thor 4 has already been made to the studio and that director Taika Waititi could come back to helm it.

"I heard that a pitch has happened for [another Thor film]. I don't know how real that intel is, but I hear that the pitch has happened. I think the idea is Taika would come back."

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see another Thor movie happen under the direction of Waititi, after all, Thor: Ragnarok was easily the best Thor film that has been made. Fans loved that film and the comedic tone that it had. I’d definitely like to see more of that! Waititi was previously asked if he would come back to direct another Thor film and he said:

“Yeah, people ask me, Would you do another one,’ and for sure I’d do another one because it wouldn’t even feel like doing a fourth Thor film, it would just feel like doing the second Ragnarok film. There’s been this reinvention in an exciting way … So it’s exciting cuz it feels like, if Chris were to do this again it wouldn’t feel like ‘oh it’s the eighth time I’ve done Thor,’ no it will feel like the second or third time I’ve done this character. Same with Mark [Ruffalo].”

Chris Hemsworth also previously said he would be up for another Thor film and that he would love to work with Waititi on it again.

"We gave cheers to Thor 3. But it also was like what could we do with four? We could do this and this. We were throwing ideas around. But also, just to work together again. That was one of the most enjoyable creative partnerships I’ve ever had.

"It just depends on how The Avengers (movies) all wrap up. I finished shooting and now they are going to edit it and see how the stories play out. There are so many interwoven scenes and stories and characters."

Well, Marvel Studios is obviously considering a fourth Thor movie and if it happens, it will be interesting to see what kind of story it will tell. What would you like to see happen in a Thor 4 movie?
