Tessa Thompson Says "Women Rule Supreme" in Marvel's Phase Four

Marvel Studios has made some incredible films over the past ten years. The current iteration of the MCU is set to come to an end with Avengers 4 and Phase 4 will launch with the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel. Other than that, and the fact that there will be a third Guardians of the Galaxy film and a possible Black Widow movie, we don't know much about what the next wave of films will entail.

Thor: Ragnarok star Tessa Thompson seems to have some insight, though. As you know, she's been pushing an all-female superhero team-up film and there's a good chance that might happen. During a recent interview with ET, Thompson talked about Phase 4 and teased that it will focus on women and that they will rule supreme:

"I think what we're seeing, regardless of a lady liberator or an A-force movie or a female ensemble Marvel movie, is that in Phase Four, women rule supreme. We're seeing a Black Widow movie in the works, which I hear about and is so exciting, Captain Marvel with Brie Larson and DeWanda Wise. We're seeing that women are at the forefront of these stories [and], of course, with Black Panther those incredible warrior women in that film."

With the way that the MCU has been evolving over the years, it wouldn't surprise me to see more women Marvel characters getting the spotlight. Captain Marvel will be the first big film to feature a female character in a title role and I'm excited as hell to see how it turns out.

There's been a lot of support behind female characters in the MCU having larger roles and Wonder Woman proved that those kinds of films could be very successful if done right. Then there's Black Panther which featured a number of strong women characters in decent sized roles.

It'll be interesting to find out what exactly Kevin Feige is planning for Phase 4, but we know that a big part of it will be set in the cosmic universe. What do you all think about what Thompson had to say here?
