THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE Reboot Is Moving Forward With the Directors of THE DIG

Legendary Pictures is ready to move forward on their upcoming reboot of the classic 1974 horror film, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The studio has hired Ryan and Andy Tohill (The Dig) to direct the film from a script written by Chris Thomas DevlinFede Alvarez (Evil Dead, Don’t Breathe) is producing, and he said in a statement:

“The Tohill’s vision is exactly what the fans want. It’s violent, exciting and so depraved that it will stay with you forever.”

Well, all I can say is that the original film already did that. I remember watching the original film for the first time when I was in high school on a VHS tape. That was a crazy and pure horror movie-watching experience that has stayed with me since then. I seriously doubt that this reboot will have the same effect. I think it’s safe to say that fans of the original don’t even want another reboot. Regardless, it’s happening.

The original Tobe Hooper-directed movie followed two siblings and three of their friends en route to visit their grandfather’s grave in Texas. On their journey, they end up falling victim to a family of cannibalistic psychopaths and must survive the terrors of Leatherface and his family.

Plot details on this latest reboot are being kept under wraps, but I’m sure it’ll follow the same formula as the original. While, of course, it would be nice to be surprised with a great reboot, I’m not expecting much. I’m just over this horror franchise being constantly rebooted. It’s tired and uninteresting.
