Thandiwe Newton Joins Channing Tatum in MAGIC MIKE'S LAST DANCE

Thandiwe Newton (Westworld) is set to join Channing Tatum in director Steven Soderbergh’s next installment of the Magic Mike franchise, Magic Mike’s Last Dance.

Tatum is set to reprise his role of Mike Lane, and Reid Carolin is writing the script. The project is being developed for HBO Max.

There are no plot details to share regarding the film and we don’t know who Newton will be playing. But, we do know that the the story will center around male strippers and with “Mike’s last dance” being the title, I imagine that he’s going to move on from the male stripper life.

When previously talking about the film, Tatum said, “There are no words for how excited I am to blow the doors off of the world of Magic Mike with Steven, Greg, Reid, and the amazing people at HBO Max. The stripperverse will never be the same.”

Soderbergh went on to say, “As soon as I saw what Channing, Reid, and the Magic Mike choreographic team did with the live show, I said, ‘We have to make another movie.’ Mike Lane’s dream of connecting people through dance must be realized.”

The first two films combined to gross nearly $300 million worldwide and, in 2017, the franchise spawned the successful stage show Magic Mike Live.

Anyone excited about this movie?
