That Big OBI-WAN KENOBI Cameo Actor Talks About Returning to the Franchise

The very end of Lucasfilm’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series featured a major cameo with the return of Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon Jinn in Force Ghost mode. While it was cool to see Neeson in the role again after all these years, I thought it was just thrown in there to pander to the fans. Kenobi seeing Qui-Gon again should have happened sooner in another context that would have made more sense and actually added value to the story.

Regardless of what I think, a lot of Star Wars fans loved the moment, and they were happy to be pandered to. Neeson recently talked to THR and broke his silence on returning to the role in the series saying:

"I certainly didn't want anyone else playing Qui-Gon Jinn, and I wanted to show my respect for George [Lucas] and that mythical world that he created. Plus, Ewan [McGregor] is a pal, and I loved working with him during The Phantom Menace 25 years ago."

I love that Neeson is ready and willing to play ball with Lucasfilm and continue to have some fun in the Star Wars franchise. Qui-Gon was actually one of the first Jedi of his era to use the power of The Force to transcend death and become a Force ghost.

What are your thoughts on Liam Neeson returning to play Qui-Gon? Did you like how he was utilized in the series?
