That JACOBS LADDER Remake is Still Happening and It Will Be Released Next Year

In today's unnecessary remake news, Bloody-Disgusting is confirming that LD Entertainment's remake of the insane 1990 psychological horror thriller, Jacobs Ladder is still happening. In fact, it may end up being released in theaters on February 1st, 2019. That date could change, though.

The original film followed a haunted Vietnam War veteran who "attempts to discover his past while suffering from a severe case of dissociation. To do so, he must decipher reality and life from his own dreams, delusion, and perception of death."

The film was first announced in 2013 and Midnight Meat Train scribe Jeff Buhler was taking it on. It was initially explained that the plan was to make the remake "something more akin to an homage and not mimic the original." The remake will "contemporize the story with new situations and characters but still maintain a story that examines issues and poses existential questions."

David M. Rosenthal (The Perfect Guy) will direct the re-imagining, which stars Michael Ealy (Underworld: Awakening), Guy Burnet (Ray Donovan), Karla Souza (How to Get Away with Murder) and Nicole Beharie (Sleepy Hollow).
