That Time THE TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Were on Oprah

I've never been ashamed to be a fan of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. But this video their appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show in the 1990s makes me cringe. This is worse than the Star Wars Christmas Special. It makes absolutely no sense that this happened. It just gives Ninja Turtles haters all the more reason to not like them. The video was dug up by the website Uncanny Brett White, and it's a devastating cross-promotional trainwreck. It seemed like no one knew what they wanted from this thing, and so it was just filled with all kinds of weird awkwardness. There are even random women in the audience who are dressed up as Turtles!?

The Turtles, April, and Shredder appear on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" to promote their album "Coming Out of Their Shells." The brothers perform the title track and "Walk Straight," while rebranding themselves as peaceful party dudes to an audience full of kids that just want to watch them fight.
