That Time Toho Almost Made a Movie Where Batman Fought Godzilla

Just in case you don't remember, or you've never even heard of this before, back in 1966 Toho and Greenway Productions bought two film treatments for a prospective movie called Battoman tai Gojiro or Batman Against Godzilla.

Unfortunately, the movie never happened, but it certainly would have been a sight to see. I love the fact that the production company at least considered making this movie enough to buy the treatments for it!

This project has been dragged back into the spotlight thanks to a Twitter user named Sean who posted some screenshots from the Wikipedia entry. He also shared a synopsis of the ending of the film.

"Batman scales Godzilla and plants the bomb on his neck, tying it to the beast with Batrope before he moves to safety and detonates it, knocking the beast out."! Can someone please make this movie now!

This film would have been so crazy and weird, especially if they got Adam West and Burt Ward to play Batman and Robin in it! There's no doubt it would have been a classic. There's no way we'll ever see this story brought to the big screen, but maybe they could turn it into an anime or comic book!
