The 1990s Kids Series GHOSTWRITER Is Getting a Reboot at Apple TV+

I have a vague recollection of the kids TV series Ghostwriter from the early 90s. It had typewriters in it. And kids. And felt mysterious. I didn’t watch it very much (clearly), but it had a fun premise, and reading about it now, I think my kids will love it.

Apple TV+ has picked up the reboot for their streaming service, which is cool, because I don’t think they’ve really had any other kid content announced. Luke Matheny will direct the series, and Deadline give the following description of the reimagining:

In the re-imagined Ghostwriter, when a ghost haunts a neighborhood bookstore and starts releasing fictional characters into the real world, four kids must team up to solve an exciting mystery surrounding the ghost’s unfinished business. Armed with secret messages only they can see, the young heroes chase down the truth — and become friends in the process.

This must have been in the works for a while, because the report also says that the new series will premiere on the opening day for the streamer, November 1st. So that’s fun! Were you a fan of the original? Will you be checking out the new Ghostwriter?
