The 1998 Sci-Fi Horror Thriller THE FACULTY Is Getting a Remake with Robert Rodriquez Producing

Miramax is developing a remake of the 1998 sci-fi horror film The Faculty, and Robert Rodriguez, who directed the original film, will produce the remake.

The script for the film is being developed Drew Hancock, who recently made his debut feature with his new film Companion, which he wrote and directed.

Kevin Williamson (Scream) wrote the original film, and the story follows a group of high school students at Herrington High who suspect that their teachers and classmates are being taken over by parasitic alien creatures.

As they uncover the invasion, a misfit group including the rebellious Zeke (Josh Hartnett), shy Casey (Elijah Wood), goth loner Stokely (Clea DuVall), and cheerleader Delilah (Jordana Brewster) bands together to fight back.

They discover that the parasites are controlling people through water consumption and that killing the alien queen will free those infected.

Rodriguez most recently directed Spy Kids: Armageddon for Netflix and the Ben Affleck thriller Hypnotic. His other credits include The Book of Boba Fett, Predators, El Mariachi, From Dusk till Dawn and Sin City.
