The 2022 Oscar Nominations, Check 'Em Out and Tell Us What You Think!

The nominees for the 94th annual Academy Awards have been announced. These are the films that the voters of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences think are the best films released in the past year.

I’m not surprised by many of the nominations. There are a lot of films here, though, that I’m happy to see were nominated. There are a lot of films in the Best Picture category that I would be happy to see win. You know what films weren’t nominated, though? Spider-Man: No Way Home, which I didn’t expect to see land a Best Picture nom. But, it did land a Best Visual Effects nomination.

Some of my personal favorite films of 2021 were Dune, West Side Story, CODA, Belfast, The Power of the Dog, and Nightmare Alley. They all got some big nominations. The Power of the Dog leads with 12 nominations. Dune landed 10 nominations. Belfast and West Side Story both earned 7 nominations. Steven Spielberg has now produced 11 films nominated for best picture, a new record for the Oscars.
