The 44th Razzie Award Nominations Are In and SHAZAM! FURY OF THE GODS Dominates
The full list of nominations for the 2024 Razzies Awards has been announced and the nominations are led by DC’s Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Marvel’s Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania!
The Razzies, or Golden Raspberry Awards, are an annual mock award ceremony that amusingly recognizes the year’s worst in film. This year Shazam! Fury of the Gods landed a "Worst Picture" nomination, with Dame Helen Mirren being nominated for "Worst Actress" and Lucy Liu among those up for "Worst Supporting Actress." The movie is also up for "Worst Screenplay."
As for Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania Michael Douglas and Bill Murray are both up for "Worst Supporting Actor", while Peyton Reed has been nominated for "Worst Director." The movie is also up for the "Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off Or Sequel" category. I’m surprised it wasn’t nominated for “Worst Screenplay” because the script was awful.
The results of the nominations were determined by the votes of Razzie Members (1,179 "movie buffs," film critics and journalists from 49 U.S. States and two dozen foreign countries). The 44th Annual Razzie "Winners" will be unveiled on the now traditional Oscar Eve, Saturday, March 9th.
