The A-List Actor Who Plays Jor-El in James Gunn's SUPERMAN Has Been Revealed
James Gunn’s Superman has been going through test screenings recently, and it was only a matter of time before leaks started trickling out. Now, a major one has surfaced, and it’s all about a big A-list star taking on the role of Superman’s Kryptonian father, Jor-El.
For weeks, speculation had been running wild, with names like Tom Cruise and Chris Pratt thrown into the mix. However, noted leaker ViewerAnon has now confirmed that the role is played by 12-time Academy Award nominee Bradley Cooper (The Hangover, Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Endgame).
Cooper’s appearance in the film will be brief, limited to the opening minutes of the film. Maybe his inclusion means the film will revisit the destruction of Krypton and baby Kal-El’s escape to Earth.
Warner Bros. is gearing up for its CinemaCon presentation on Tuesday evening, leading to speculation that a new trailer could drop around the same time. However, fans should manage expectations as there’s a strong chance that any new footage remains exclusive to the CinemaCon audience.
This marks another comic book movie role for Cooper, who is widely recognized for voicing Rocket Raccoon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since 2014, he’s brought the fan-favorite character to life across multiple Guardians of the Galaxy films, as well as Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Thor: Love and Thunder, I Am Groot, and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.
With Superman shaping up to be one of 2025’s biggest and most exciting releases, this casting reveal makes me wonder what other surprises does Gunn have in store.
