The Adult-Themed FLINTSTONES Sequel Series BEDROCK Has Been Scrapped
Fox was developing an adult-themed sequel series to the classic animated series The Flintstones titled Bedrock. But, according to TV Line, this project has been scrapped.
However, they say Fox is open to redeveloping the project at a later date. Elizabeth Banks was set to star in and executive produce the series. She would’ve voiced Pebbles.
The story for the series was set 20 years after the events of the original series. Fred Flintstone is on the brink of retirement and 20-something Pebbles is embarking on her own career.
“As the Stone Age gives way to a shiny and enlightened new Bronze Age, the residents of Bedrock will find this evolution harder than a swing from Bamm-Bamm’s club.”
Stephen Root and Amy Sedaris were set to voice Fred and Wilma, with Nicole Byer (Grand Crew) as Betty, Joe Lo Truglio (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) as Barney and Manny Jacinto (The Acolyte) as Bamm-Bamm.
Banks teased that Bedrock would “have adult themes, like all the greats — just like The Simpsons or South Park — but ‘family-ish friendly.'”
The project was being written and co-executive produced by Lindsay Kerns (Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, DC Super Hero Girls, and Trolls: The Beat Goes On!).
