THE AMAZING WORLD OF GUMBALL is Getting a Movie and a New Series from WarnerMedia

The Amazing World of Gumball has been a popular series on Cartoon Network and now some new projects have been given the green light by WarnerMedia Kids & Family. The first of these projects is a movie which currently has the working title of The Amazing World of Gumball: The Movie!. This film is set to serve as the conclusion of the original series and the kick off for the second project which is a new series currently referred to as The Amazing World of Gumball: The Series. Sadly, we don’t really know much about the new series other than it coming from Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe like the film and is set to release on HBO Max and Cartoon Network. Here’s a new synopsis for the film though:

Staying true to its self-referential and meta comedic roots that endeared The Amazing World of Gumball to fans around the world, the movie begins when Gumball's biggest fan finds the show's missing episode and accidentally opens a portal connecting his world to Gumball's cartoon world. Upon meeting his heroes, our super fan decides to team up with Gumball, Darwin, Anais, Richard and Nicole to save them from a nefarious force overtaking Elmore, while inadvertently unleashing a threat of their very own.

I’ve heard really good things about Gumball, so this is sure to be a great treat for many fans. The film is being written by Shane Mack with Ben Bocquelet serving as director and executive producer. Vanessa Brookman, Sarah Fell, and Sam Register will also serve as executive producers. In a joint statement, Brookman and Register (co-heads of Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe) said:

We could not think of a better show to kick off our first batch of project greenlights under the Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe banner. With this movie and new series, we have an 'amazing' opportunity with Ben to provide a satisfying conclusion that Gumball fans have been hoping for while also establishing the next chapter of this charming, colorful and inventive series.

Amy Friedman, the head of Kids & Family Programming, added:

Gumball is one of those rare characters who effortlessly seems to tell us the truth, make us laugh and unify people, and now Bocquelet returns to bring Gumball back where he belongs – on an interdimensional journey right back to the fans.

Sadly, that’s all the information we have for now. We don’t even know when to expect the new film or series. Are you excited for more Gumball, though?
