THE AMERICANS is Coming Back for its Sixth and Final Season

The whirlwind that has been the FX hit show, The Americans, is now winding down to deliver us it's final season. This is definitely in my top 10 favorite shows, and it's been such a wild ride! If you haven't been watching (which you totally should), here's a rundown:

Philip and Elizabeth Jennings, played by the incredible Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell, are a couple of undercover Soviet spies in the Reagan-era, cold war. They live in Washington D.C. with their two kids, and have cover jobs at a travel agency. At night, they become whoever they need to be to get the info they need. To top it off, their new neighbor, played by Noah Emmerich, moves in and is an FBI agent, who they befriend, adding to the complicated web they weave. It's an incredible, edge of your seat show that gives you the perspective of the "other side", and makes you question who you are really rooting for.

I'm sad to see this show go, but I know they are finishing out their story strong, and aren't going to be the type of show to keep going just because they can. They have an end in sight, and I'm sure they'll do the characters and story justice. Tvline.com reports that the final season will jump ahead three years and give us a deeper look at the relationship between Elizabeth and Paige's characters, and the progress that Paige has made since season five. I'm sure we will also get the final word on if Philip and Elizabeth stay in the States or head back to the motherland, whether or not they get caught, what happens to Stan, and so much more. I can't wait!

We don't have a date yet, but we know it's in 2018, and The American's usually comes to us early in the year. So keep an eye out, catch up if you need to, and let us know what you'd like to see happen on the final season!
