The ANIMORPHS Writers Have Left The Film Adaptation

Last week, Animorphs fans were met with some sad news. It turns out that the authors for the series, K.A. Applegate and Michael Grant, have left the movie project coming from Picture Start. Grant shared the news via his Twitter account and while he doesn’t go into details, he does link to a blog post by Rick Riordan where he talked about why he abandoned the Percy Jackson film projects.

It looks like there have been too many creative differences between the movie studio and the authors and that’s never a good sign. Fans of the books typically love the books for what the authors made them. Changing them too much never goes well for the film side of things.

This has me very sad as I had just read the graphic novel adaptation of The Invasion (the first book) and once again fell in love with the series. I was genuinely pumped and excited for the books to bring to life the action we see in our minds and on the pages. Sadly, it looks like things are not going to be what we hoped for. I’m bummed.
