The AQUAMAN Film Won't Use The Same Technique Used in JUSTICE LEAGUE For Talking Underwater

There was really only one scene in Justice League that gave us a taste of what fans could expect to see in James Wan's Aquaman film. Turns out one thing in particular featured in Justice League will not carry over to the solo film. That thing is how the characters talk to each other underwater.

The underwater action was really cool, especially with how Amber Herd's Mera was fighting. But, things get a little weird when Mera and Jason Momoa's Aquaman had to have a conversation. If you don't want to know how this aspect of the film was handled, don't read ahead.

In Justice League’s one Atlantis-set scene, Aquaman and Mera have to talk to each other after Steppenwolf steals the Mother Box that Atlantis has guarded for thousands of years. Mera uses her water-bending abilities to form a bubble pocket of air around herself and Aquaman, and it's there that they talk about his past.

I thought that was a weird way to have these characters talk to each other and wondered if the Aquaman movie was going to be using these air bubble pockets throughout the course the film for conversations that need to take place. Thankfully, that's not the case. Director James Wan tweeted out:

Now that that's cleared up, I can't wait to see how Wan is going to handle these Atlantian characters talking underwater. Could it be telepathically? Because that would be kind rad! Or will they just talk like they aren't underwater? We'll just have to wait and see!

Aquaman hits theaters on December 21st, 2018.
