The Artists for SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE Had an Interesting Nickname for the First Spider-Man
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is being heralded as the best Spider-Man movie ever. Everyone I know who has seen it has loved it. However, did you know that the artists had a special nickname for the original Spider-Man that appeared in the film? There are some spoilers ahead, so be warned.
In Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse: The Art of the Movie, a small detail is revealed about Peter Parker. The artists for the film called him “RIPeter” because he dies in the first act.
This is quite the interesting and morbid nickname. This nickname became necessary to help distinguish between the heroic and older versions of Peter Parker. The other Spider-Men were easy enough to differentiate.
Now, when you argue with your friends about which Spider-Man was best, you can drop the name “RIPeter.”
