The AVENGERS: THE KANG DYNASTY Writers Would Have Had the Young Avengers Beat Kang... Then Be Met With a Funny Twist
Our next Avengers adventure will see Earth’s Mightiest Heroes battle the great nemesis Doctor Doom, but everyone knows that before that idea was rolled out, we were getting geared up to see them go head to head with Kang the Conqueror.
Kang actor Jonathan Majors appeared in the role in both Loki and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, where the studio was laying the groundwork for his becoming the next big bad. But Majors became the center of a domestic violence incident, and Marvel fired him and quickly pivoted to the new storyline.
Now that the details of the Avengers: The Kang Dynasty are no longer destined for canon, the film’s co-writer Michael Waldron has disclosed a fun piece of the puzzle that would have gone down if the movie had been made.
Waldron explained during a Reddit Q&A, "Jeff Loveness and I spent an afternoon pitching on the Young Avengers defeating a version of Kang and being so stoked about it...only to discover that that particular Kang carried a little card that said to Be Patient with him, it was his first day as a Kang. And then they were so bummed. I think he was gonna be the lizard Kang from the end of Kang Dynasty? I don't know. Anyway we had fun."
That sounds like it would have been an exciting and hilarious scene! It’s too bad that we wont see it play out, but I would bet that we will still probably see the young Avengers appear at some point in either Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars, if not both.
