THE BATMAN Director Matt Reeves Wants to Focus on the Detective Version of Batman!
The director of The Batman, Matt Reeves, recently talked about how his Batman film would be influenced by Alfred Hitchcock. In that article, I talked about how much I would love to see a Batman film that focused on the character utilizing his directive skills because he is known as the "The Worlds Greatest Detective". I've always felt he should live up to that title in the films.
I'm excited to report that that's exactly what Reeves is planning to do with his movie! We are going to finally see the noir-style detective side of The Dark Knight at work in the movies! During an interview with New Trailer Buzz, the director said:
“There’s a chance to do an almost noir driven, detective version of Batman that is point-of-view driven in a very very powerful way, that will hopefully connect you to what’s going on inside of his head and inside of his heart."
That's exciting for me! As I previously said, I'd like to see Batman involved with some hardcore Se7en-style detective work. Some of my favorite Comic book story arcs include Batman Unseen, The Long Halloween, Dark Victory, The Black Mirror, and Broken City. All these stories relied more on his detective work than his fighting skills. They would also work great with the Hitchcockian style that Reeves wants to incorporate.
We have no idea what story Reeves will end up telling, but in regards to the direction he wants to take the film, he seems to be headed in the right direction.
