THE BATMAN: PART II Set Photos Reveal Some Slick Changes to Robert Pattinson’s New Batsuit
Batman is back on the streets, and his suit has picked up a few upgrades along the way.
New set photos from The Batman: Part II have given us our first clear look at Robert Pattinson’s updated Batsuit, confirming that director Matt Reeves and his team have made some noticeable refinements to the costume.
This isn’t a dramatic redesign of Pattinson’s Batman gear, but the changes give the armor a cleaner, slightly evolved appearance heading into the sequel.
The photos, which were shared by a user on X, feature a stunt double wearing the new suit during filming. The biggest differences can be spotted around the abdominal armor and individual plating sections.
The overall silhouette remains very close to what Pattinson wore in The Batman, including the armored collar and recognizable chest design, but some of the panels have been reshaped and refined.
That tracks with what Reeves previously said about making small adjustments to Batman’s costume for the sequel. Bruce Wayne apparently hasn’t decided to toss everything into the Batcave dumpster and start over. Instead, the suit looks like something he has continued to modify as he gains more experience fighting crime in Gotham.
Pattinson’s Bruce was only in his second year of operating as Batman during The Batman, and his gear had a practical, handmade quality that fit a guy still figuring out exactly what worked. Small improvements rather than a completely new costume feel right for where this character is in his crimefighting career.
Production on The Batman: Part II officially kicked off on June 12, 2026, with filming taking place at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden as well as locations in London, Liverpool, and Glasgow.
The movie is filming under the working title Semper Vigilans, and the production schedule includes a hefty 11 weeks of night shoots. Gotham apparently demands a lot of caffeine.
There has also been a change in the cinematography department. Erik Messerschmidt is shooting the sequel after The Batman cinematographer Greig Fraser was unable to return because of scheduling conflicts.
Pattinson will once again be joined by Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobb. The sequel is adding several interesting new faces as well, with Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, and Charles Dance.
The story unfolds during winter and picks up only weeks after the events of The Penguin. That should make the sequel feel closely connected to the fallout from the HBO series while pushing Bruce into the next phase of his story.
Reeves has also indicated that The Batman: Part II will put more attention on Bruce Wayne himself, exploring the man underneath the mask more than many previous Batman movies have. At the same time, the filmmaker has teased an antagonist who has never appeared in a live-action Batman feature film before.
That mystery remains one of the most interesting pieces of the sequel. Batman has an absurdly deep rogues gallery, so there are plenty of characters Reeves could pull from without revisiting the villains audiences have already seen multiple times on the big screen.
Warner Bros. Pictures recently moved The Batman: Part II to February 18, 2028.
