THE BATMAN Star Zoë Kravitz Rumored To Play Catwoman in Her Own HBO Max Series
Last month, it was announced that on top of directing The Batman, Matt Reeves would also be developing a series for HBO Max that would revolve around the Gotham City Police Department. That project is also being developed by Boardwalk Empire creator Terence Winter.
The story is set in the same Gotham City that Reeves has developed for The Batman. The show “will build upon the film’s examination of the anatomy of corruption in Gotham City, launching a new Batman universe across multiple platforms. The series will extend the world established in the movie and further explore the myriad of complex characters of Gotham.”
It sounds like that might not be the only series in development. According to a report from The Cinema Spot, WB might also be developing another spinoff series that will focus on Zoë Kravitz’s version of Catwoman.
The report notes that it's possible this series will end up being a prequel series that explores her adventures before she meets Batman. However, they also say that they’ve heard Selina Kyle doesn't actually become Catwoman in The Batman, which is a weird thing to say considering Kravitz has already confirmed that she’s tried on the costume.
So, as of right now, take this rumor with a grain of salt. But, a series that follows Catwoman’s transformation into a vigilante could be a lot of fun to see. I hope it’s true. WB did say that they have long-term plans for an integrated Batman universe, and a Catwoman series could be a part of that.
