THE BATMAN: Tessa Thompson, Lupita Nyong'o, and More Up tor the Role of Catwoman
We recently learned that Warner Bros. and director Matt Reeves were looking for an actress of color to take on the role of Selina Kyle, a.k.a. Catwoman, in The Batman. Well, today we have a shortlist of actresses who are said to be up for the role.
The news comes from Geeks Worldwide, and the list of actresses include Lupita Nyong'o (Black Panther), Tessa Thompson (Thor: Ragnarok), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Beauty and the Beast), Alexandra Shipp (X-Men: Dark Phoenix), and Logan Browning (Dear White People).
Thompson and Nyong’o are the biggest names on the list. They are both great actresses, but the studio could always go with lesser known actress. There are benefits to that, and it’ll be interesting to see who ends up landing the role.
The Batman will star Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader and Jeffery Wright as Commissioner Jim Gordon. Jonah Hill is in talks to play either the Riddler or Penguin, and John David Washington (BlackKklansman) has been rumored to be up for the role of Harvey Dent/Two-Face.
