THE BATMAN Writer Mattson Tomlin and Seth Rogen are Developing an Adaption of the Comic Thriller MEMETIC
Lionsgate is set to produce an adaptation of a comic book thriller titled Memetic. The Batman writer Mattson Tomlin has been hired to pen the script and Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg are set to produce it. The comic was published by Boom! Studios and it was created by James Tynion IV and Eryk Donovan.
For those of you not familiar with the story, “all hell breaks loose when a mysterious meme goes viral on a college campus, making anyone who sees it turn obsessive and violent. As the meme spreads and grows out of control, a ragtag group of students must risk everything in order to survive the viral outbreak and try to stop it.”
There’s not really much to it. It’s nothing we haven’t already seen before. It’s a familiar story wrapped up in a different package. I’m not expecting much from this, but maybe they’ll bring on a great creative team that will do something cool and different with it.
Tomlin is currently rewriting the film adaptation of the hit video game MegaMan for 20th Century Studios. He also has a film coming to Netflix titled Power, which stars Jamie Foxx, along with the indie feature Little Fish.
