The Batmobile in THE BATMAN Was Inspired by Stephen King's CHRISTINE

Some interesting new details have emerged regarding Batman’s Batmobile in director Matt ReevesThe Batman. If you’re excited about the movie, or the Batman franchise in general, these details should interest you.

I personally love the ‘60s style muscle car look of the new Batmobile, and seeing it in action in the trailers has been pretty awesome! The thing looks like a beast, and I want one! While we don’t know what kind of car it is for sure, Car and Driver said that it could possibility be a 1969 Dodge Charger. But, Hot Cars says that the car "oozes the Chevrolet Camaro's style with its elongated front and the fascia."

Regardless, it turns out that Bruce Wayne actually built that version of the Batmobile himself. That bit of news comes from Robert Pattinson, who says, "Bruce built it himself, so there's this kind of tangibility to it."

The director of the film went on to say that his vision of the car was inspired by Stephen King’s Christine. He explained in an interview with Empire, “It has to make an appearance out of the shadows to intimidate, so I thought of it almost like Stephen King's [possessed motor] Christine. I liked the idea of the car itself as a horror figure, making an animalistic appearance to really scare the hell out of the people Batman's pursuing.”

I freakin’ love that! And it totally works! That Batmobile in the film is a monster! During that scene where it explodes through the fire while chasing The Penguin… that’s so badass. I can’t wait to see more of this thing in action!

The Batman arrives in theaters March 4th, 2022.
