The BATWOMAN Series is Looking For a Lesbian Actress Play The Lead

TV BatwomanThe CWDC by Joey Paur

Earlier this week it was announced that DC was developing a Batwoman series for The CW. For those of you who are familiar with the comic, then you know that the main character, Kate Kane, is a highly trained lesbian street fighter.

I assumed that the creative team would want to cast a lesbian actress in the role, but in case there was any doubt, TV Line is reporting that producers are looking to cast a lesbian actress to play the first openly gay lead in a solo comic book series.

TVLine offered the following casting description: "Open ethnicity, to play age 25 to 29." Batwoman aka Kate Kane will first be introduced in this fall’s four-way crossover event between ArrowThe FlashSupergirl and Legends of Tomorrow. From there she will get her own series, and here's the description for it:

In the series, Kate Kane, armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.

The report also mentions that producers are casting a transgender actress to play investigative reporter Nia Nal in Supergirl Season 4.

Are there any lesbian actresses out there that you would like to see take on the role of Batwoman?
