The Big and Interesting Problem AVENGERS: ENDGAME Sets Up For The Future of The MCU

While Avengers: Endgame wrapped up an incredibly epic 22 film story arc in the greatest way possible, it also opened up a whole new world of issues that the future of the MCU is going to have to deal with.

While the Avengers set out to undo what Thanos has done and bring everyone back that was lost, that action is going to have major consequences. At least it should have major consequences!

You see, all of the people who were lost have been gone for five years. They’ve lost five years of their lives, but they didn’t age. While everyone who survived have had to deal with the loss and the stress, they did try to move on, and they did age! The events of Thanos’ snap was not fully undone.

This is a major issue that the world and everyone that lives in it is going to have to deal with. Now, the Russo. Bros. have previously said that what Thanos did in Infinity War would not be undone and that the effects of The Snap would continue to have an impact on the MCU, and they obviously meant it.

While the end of Endgame did attempt to show us what things would be like for many of the main characters in the story, that’s just a very small part of what other people in the universe are going to have to deal with.

There was one part of the movie that made me realize the ramifications of this. Peter Parker going back to school. Technically half of the high school he attended disappeared, while the other half already graduated, grew up, and moved on with their lives.

I assume that this means most of Peter Parker’s friends were also victims of The Snap. They’d have to be if they are all still the same age in Spider-Man: Far From Home. If MJ is five years older, that would be super weird for Peter and their relationship because she would be 21 or 22 years old! I just imagine that all of these kids will end up going back to high school to complete their education which is sure to be super weird for them!

Also, what is the economy going to be like in this new changed world? How will an influx of billions of people all of a sudden arriving in the world effect that economy? Will there be enough jobs for people? Will all these people feel completely displaced and end up on the streets?

What about all those people who lost husbands and wives!? In five years there’s a good chance that many of them moved on and found someone new to be with! Then there are the kids these families lost that could come home to these broken and displaced families. These issues are going to have a lasting impact on people that isn’t going to be easily fixed.

There are so many more problems that bringing back half the population will have on the world and my big question is... will Marvel even address it in their future film? Or will everything just magically be okay? Are they just going to ignore these big issues that they just opened up on the MCU?

I personally hope that these issues are addressed and not glossed over because there are a ton of interesting stories that could come from this!

What do you all think about the issues of bringing everyone that was lost back five years later?
