THE BLACKLIST Season 7 Finale Will Be a Mix of Live-Action and Graphic Novel-Style Animation
Like many other TV productions, NBC’s The Blacklist had to cut their full season short due to coronavirus pandemic shutting down production. The Blacklist is in its seventh season and they were in the middle of shooting its 19th episode, titled “The Kazanjian Brothers,” when production shut down.
Producers wanted to find a way to complete the episode, which will now serve as the Season finale. The season was originally was supposed to run 22 episodes. So, they decided that they will add graphic novel-style animation to the already filmed live-action scenes.
The live-action graphic novel-style animated hybrid was able to be completed with the editors and animators finishing up their work remotely. James Spader, Megan Boone, and the other actors recorded their dialogue from their homes for the animated scenes.
Here’s the synopsis that was shared for the episode:
The Task Force investigates an accountant who works for lucrative criminals in order to find the violent and thuggish brothers hired for his protection. Liz must make a momentous decision. Presented in a unique hybrid of live-action and graphic novel-style animation.
The season finale will air May 15th and the series has already been renewed for an eighth season. I’m curious to see how this turns out!
