THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT TV Series is Officially Moving Forward
A few months ago we learned that the team behind the Blair Witch Project were developing a TV series based on the horror film franchise. Co-creator Eduardo Sanchez said at the time:
"I can’t really discuss. I think that the idea of a Blair Witch anthology has always been very – just a really interesting thing. You’re close. You’re in the ballpark. You know, and I think it might be one of those things that might be – you know? The more you think about it, you’re like “That might be the perfect… a TV show. You know?” So, we’ll see what happens, but I think that’s the next big thing for Blair Witch. Probably TV."
Now, Deadline is reporting that Lionsgate is officially developing the series as part of their original digital content for their new Studio L brand. On top of the Blair Witch Project, they are also producing a coming-of-age female-driven drama called The Honor List, a comedy called Most Likely To Murder, and a feature-length film titled Chicken Girls: The Movie. Oh yeah! I should also mention that they are also developing a series remake of the 2005 Ryan Reynolds comedy Waiting.
There's no information on what the Blair Witch Project series will entail. We don't know if it will be a continuation of the original films or a complete reboot. One of the things I've personally always wanted to see explored in the franchise is the actual history of the Blair Witch. The fact that hasn't been done yet is surprising. But, maybe they will do that with the series.
What would you like to see from a Blair Witch series?
