THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT Episode 2 Was Shot by Legendary Cinematographer Dean Cundey

The second episode of The Book of Boba Fett, "The Tribes of Tatooine" was a fantastic episode, and I’ll have a breakdown of that episode coming later today. One cool thing that I wanted to point out about this episode, though, is that it was shot by legendary cinematographer Dean Cundey.

For those of you not familiar with the name, you’re definitely familiar with his work! He has over 100 credits to his name that span back all the way to 1973. Some of those include films such the original three Halloween films, The Fog, Escape From New York, The Thing, Romancing The Stone, the Back To The Future trilogy, Big Trouble in Little China, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Road House, Hook, Jurassic Park, Apollo 13, and more.

So yeah, the guy is a legend, and it was so cool to see that he was asked to shoot an episode of The Book of Boba Fett and also that he agreed to do it! The guy is selective about the kind of projects that he takes on these days, so it was great to see that it all worked out. He also worked on the upcoming fourth episode of the series.

One of the reasons he might have jumped at the opportunity to work on this show was to also be able to play with the new technology. In a previous interview Cundey said, “I have always gravitated towards new stuff. New technology." As you know, these Star Wars shows are implementing all kinds of awesome new filmmaking tech for filmmakers to play and create with.
