THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT Episode 6 is Pure STAR WARS and It Made Me So Damn Happy!

The Book of Boba Fett Episode 6 is titled “From the Desert Comes a Stranger,” and this chapter of the story brought me so much joy and happiness! It was also surprisingly emotional for me. The episode was directed by Dave Filoni and he did a hell of a great job!

One thing I didn’t expect to see, because I tend to keep my expectations in check these days, was actually seeing Luke Skywalker training Grogu! It was heavily featured in the episode and watching Luke train Grogu was so freakin’ cool! Also, Luke looked great! The VFX work done to bring him to life was so freakin’ impressive! He looked so much better this time around, and it was so crazy to see how much screentime he had, and see all of the emotions in his face. That was impressive work!

In the story, Mando attempts to see Grogu and bring him his gift. That gift is a beskar chainmail shirt that was created by the Armorer. The Mando really hoped to see Grogu again, but he is met by Ahsoka, which was another great unexpected surprise, and she manages to talk Mando out of seeing Grogu so that his training isn’t disrupted.

Ahsoka tells Mando how much Grogu misses him, but explains that seeing him would mess with Grogu’s emotions further and make his training more difficult. Mando gives the gift to Ahsoka to give to Grogu and leaves, and it was kinda sad that the two weren’t reunited.

During Grogu’s training, Luke tells him about his late master Yoda, who was of the same unnamed species, in an attempt to inspire him and it was quite a sweet little moment. Luke then uses the Force to unlock Grogu’s memories of his forgotten training at the old Jedi Temple on Coruscant.

A flashback reveals Grogu's perspective of Order 66, in which the Galactic Republic's clone troopers turned on their Jedi allies as part of Emperor Palpatine's plan to seize power. We see three Jedi Knights trying to protect Grogu, but they are gunned down and killed by clones with blue armor, which means they were part of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader's elite 501st unit.

We also see in the episode that Luke and Ahsoka are spending time together, which is pretty awesome. At one point she even told him he reminded him of his father, Anakin. I would love to see them talk about Anakin more.

Luke isn’t sure if Grogu’s heart is in becoming a Jedi. Luke is struggling with the fact that Grogu is caught between his attachment to Mando and learning to become a Jedi and in response to that, Ahsoka says, "So much like your father.”

The episode ends with Luke presenting Grogu with a choice, that he can take the beskar chainmail that the Mando brought him and return to his friend or take a lightsaber that once belonged to Yoda and continue his training as a Jedi.

This is a tough choice to make! He can only choose one! I would absolutely love to see Grogu take up the light saber and continue his training. But, I would also love to see him back with Mando! I’m torn in how I want to see Grobu’s story arc play out. However, if I had to choose one I would like to see Grogu stay with Luke because it opens up a whole new story to follow that I want to see as Luke is just setting up his Jedi training school.

While that’s what I want to see, I think that we’ll end up seeing Grogu take the chainmail and return to be with his friend. What choice do you want to see Grogu make? Earlier in the episode, we saw Luke show Grogu that he could raise multiple frogs in the air. I would love to see Grogu use the force to raise both the chainmail and the lightsaber.

Oh yeah! One more thing… Timothy Olyphant’s Cobb Vanth is back! Mando goes to him to ask for his help to join Boba Fett’s fight against the Pykes. Cobb isn’t happy with the Pykes conducting spice deals, but he is uncertain about joining Fett’s fight.

Later on, Cobb is approached by the ruthless Duros bounty hunter Cad Bane! That’s right, Cad Bane makes his live-action appearance, and holy crap! What a great way to introduce the character in the series! He is now employed by the Pykes, and Bane offers to pay Cobb to allow the Syndicate to transport the spice through Freetown territory and reminds him that Boba is a "cold-blooded killer who worked with the Empire."

Vanth doesn’t seem happy with the situation and it ends up in a tense showdown with Bane. However, Vanth is distracted by his new deputy, and Bane blasts Vanth and then blows away his deputy. There’s still a good chance that Cobb Vanth is alive, though! It looks like he was only blasted once in the shoulder. I loved the whole The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly vibe of this!

In case you didn’t know, Cad Bane was inspired by Lee Van Cleef’s character from the classic 1966 western, and seeing him brought to life like this was perfection. We haven’t seen the last of him!

Things are getting super interesting and we’ve got one more episode left in The Book of Boba Fett! I can’t wait to see how it ends, and also how it fully sets up The Mandalorian Season 3.

What did you all think of the most recent episode of The Book of Boba Fett, and what are you expecting to see as the story continues?
