The BOSCH Universe Expands with Two More Series Involving J. Edgar and Renee Ballard
Amazon Studios’ Bosch franchise is taking things to the next level with not one, but TWO police dramas inspired by the fantastic novels from bestselling author Michael Connelly! I’m a huge fan of the original Bosch series, and the new show, Bosch: Legacy, was just as good. I just like these characters, so I’m pretty stoked about these next two spinoffs that are coming!
First up, we've got the Untitled J. Edgar project. Harry Bosch's former partner, Detective Jerry Edgar, is going to embark on an undercover FBI mission in the vibrant city of Little Haiti, Miami. Get ready for a solid mix of glitz and grit as Jerry balances his new life with the seedy underworld of the city, all while being pursued by his mysterious past. It’s also being reported that Jamie Hector, who starred in the original Bosch series, is in talks to reprise his role in this exciting offshoot.
Next up, we've got the Untitled Renee Ballard. Detective Renee Ballard is taking the LAPD by storm as she takes the reins of the new cold case division. This no-nonsense detective is on a mission to bring credibility to the department and justice to the community. Renee learned from the best, none other than Harry Bosch himself, and now she's doing things her way - solving cases with unconventional methods while navigating the challenges of being a woman on the rise in the LAPD.
It's not yet been determined what Amazon platform these new shows will be on, but with Bosch: Legacy receiving an early Season 2 renewal before its first episode even dropped, it's clear that the Bosch universe is here to stay. Season 2 is set to premiere this fall on Freevee.
With the creative minds of Michael Connelly, Larry Andries, Michael Alaimo, Kendall Sherwood, and Eric Overmyer, and more behind the franchise as executive producers, we're expecting nothing but greatness from these upcoming spinoffs!
