The BOURNE Franchise Spinoff Series TREADSTONE Casts Patrick Fugit and Michelle Forbes

USA Network is producing a Bourne spinoff series called Treadstone. The show was created by Tim Kring (Heroes) and it “explores the origin story and present-day actions of a CIA black ops program known as Operation Treadstone — a covert program that uses behavior-modification protocol to turn recruits into nearly superhuman assassins.”

The first season will follow sleeper agents across the globe as they’re mysteriously “awakened” to resume their deadly missions. The series is actually putting together a pretty solid cast that includes Michelle Forbes (The Killing), Patrick Fugit (Almost Famous), Michael Gaston (The Leftovers), Tess Haubrich (Alien: Conenant), and Bollywood star Shruti Haasan.

They will join the previously cast Jeremy Irvine and Brian J. Smith, as well as Omar Metwally, Tracy Ifeachor, Hyo Joo Han, Gabrielle Scharnitzky and Emilia Schüle.

Forbes will take on the role of Ellen Becker, “a savvy CIA veteran trying to balance the demands of work and family while investigating a conspiracy with international implications.” Fugit will polay Stephen Haynes, “a high school math teacher with a dark side that he’s struggling to keep under control.” Gaston plays Dan Levine, “a no-nonsense senior CIA veteran overseeing an investigation that involves some of the Agency’s darkest secrets.” Haasan plays Nira Patel, “a young woman in Delhi whose waitress job serves as a cover for a dangerous double life as a trained assassin.” Then there’s Haubrich who will play Samantha, “a nurse who must reconcile her husband Doug’s dark past.”

I like the Bourne film franchise and I hope that this spinoff series turns out to be good. There’s a lot of potential.
