The BOURNE Franchise Spinoff Series TREADSTONE Picked Up By USA Network

A few months ago it was reported that Heroes creator Tim Kring was developing a Bourne spinoff series called Treadstone. Now it's being reported that USA Network has officially given it a straight to-series order.

Treadstone explores the origin story and present-day actions of a CIA black ops program known as Operation Treadstone — a covert program that uses behavior-modification protocol to turn recruits into nearly superhuman assassins. The first season follows sleeper agents across the globe as they’re mysteriously “awakened” to resume their deadly missions.

There was originally supposed to be a pilot episode made before they ordered the series, but apparently, the network likes the direction the project is going so much, they just decided to skip that phase and give it a full season order. It probably didn't hurt that there's an international distribution deal being negotiated with Amazon as well.

According to Deadline, Amazon Studios president Jennifer Salke was "instrumental in starting the conversations on Treadstone as she had known the project since its inception and was in on the original pitch in her previous role as president of NBC Entertainment."

I'm a fan of the Bourne franchise and I really think a series like this could work. I'm interested in seeing how exactly Kring brings this Treadstone show to life.
