THE BOYS Showrunner Talks About The "Madness" of the Season 3 Herogasm Episode

When it was announced that The Boys Season 3 would adapt the debaucherous herogasm story for the comics, fans have been curious to see how it will turn out. There’s been a lot of hype building for it, the question is, will it live up to the hype?

Herogasm is an super filthy story about a superhero orgy. It follows the ragtag team as they infiltrate an annual, weekend-long Vought party, and it’s an annual superhero orgasm, which is put on to help its superheroes unwind from their duties with sex and drugs. While there, the team learns more about Vought's plans to infiltrate the White House.

Showrunner Eric Kripke recently offered a little update on how the episode is coming along and he teases that the episode will more than live up to the hype. He told TV Guide Magazine's Sci-Fi & Fantasy Special Collector's Issue, via TVInsider:

"There's definitely a lot of madness. It's not a secret that we're doing an episode about ‘Herogasm’ from the comics [a six-issue limited series from comics writer Garth Ennis], which is a massive superhero orgy. And we're doing something in the first episode that I think is definitely the craziest thing we've ever pulled off…and might be one of the craziest things anybody's ever tried to pull off."

During an interview earlier this year Kripke also said the series will feature one of the "craziest things" in television history:

"Without giving away any spoilers, I was just in editing yesterday, and we're doing something here in the season 3 premiere that is not only I think the craziest thing we've ever done, it's got to be up there with the craziest thing anyone's ever done. Maybe it won't work. Who knows? But I'm just so high on this gag that we're pulling off. And it's certainly something nobody has ever seen before, probably for good reason. So all that's really exciting."

Homelander actor Antony Starr also hyped up Season 3 during an interview with TVLine, saying:

"Oh, my God, [Season 3] is hands down one of the most enjoyable seasons of TV I've had the good fortune of being involved with! I had a great time on Season 2, and I thought we did something really cool there where we took it next-level in many ways from Season 1, and really, it's just the extension of that."

I’ve enjoy the first two seasons of The Boys, but it sounds like Season 3 is going to take things to a whole other level of insanity.
