THE BOYS Star Jack Quaid Says He Auditioned for James Gunn's SUPERMAN
The Boys star Jack Quaid recently revealed that he auditioned for James Gunn's Superman. He admitted that he didn’t get very far in the process, but it’s ok because he ended up playing Superman in the animated series My Adventures with Superman.
While a guest on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Quaid said: "I didn't get very far. I put myself on tape and it went nowhere, and that's fine. I'm totally cool with it."
Quaid also says he knows Superman star David Corenswet and suggests that he wasn't surprised to learn that he landed the role.
The actor added: "I know David Corenswet. He's one of those people you meet, and you go 'Oh yeah...whenever they need another [Superman], it's probably going to be you.'"
While Jack Quaid is a solid actor, he’s not really the Superman type. He’s more of a Jimmy Olsen-type guy. Regardless, he’s going to continue landing good roles as his career moves forward.
Superman will tell the story of “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
Superman also stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Terence Rosemore as Otis, María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica / The Engineer, Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt / Mr. Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Rex Mason / Metamorpho, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, and Christopher McDonald as Ron Troupe.
DC Studios's Superman is flying into theaters on July 11, 2025.
