THE BOYS Teaser Recaps Butcher and Homelander’s “Scorched Earth” Rivalry Ahead of the Final Season

Prime Video just dropped a new teaser for The Boys that takes a look back at one of the most vicious rivalries on television. While the series has juggled plenty of wild characters and chaotic storylines, the brutal conflict between Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher and Antony Starr’s Homelander has always been the beating heart of the show.

The new teaser highlights the long, ugly path that led these two toward their inevitable final showdown, reminding fans just how personal this fight has become.

Butcher’s hatred for Homelander runs deep. Ever since discovering that the unstable leader of The Seven raped his late wife Becca, he’s made it his life’s mission to bring the supe down no matter the cost. It’s a vendetta that’s shaped nearly every decision he’s made throughout the series.

What makes the feud even more twisted is that Homelander could have wiped Butcher out whenever he wanted. Instead, the two effectively agreed to keep their war going. Season 3 leaned into that weird understanding, with both men prolonging the fight even though it put everyone around them in danger.

The Season 4 finale shook things up when Butcher unexpectedly manifested some terrifying superpowers of his own. That moment changed the entire dynamic between him and Homelander. For the first time, the playing field looks a little more even, which means their long-promised clash in Season 5 could be absolutely brutal.

Prime Video also released a new poster teasing the episode rollout for the upcoming season, giving fans another reminder that the endgame for this series is right around the corner.

According to the official synopsis: “In the fifth and final season of The Boys, it's Homelander’s world, completely subject to his erratic, egomaniacal whims. Hughie, Mother's Milk, and Frenchie are imprisoned in a ‘Freedom Camp.’

“Annie struggles to mount a resistance against the overwhelming Supe force. Kimiko is nowhere to be found. But when Butcher reappears, ready and willing to use a virus that will wipe all Supes off the map, he sets in motion a chain of events that will forever change the world and everyone in it. It's the climax, people. Big stuff's gonna happen.”

The cast for the final season includes Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, Colby Minifie, Cameron Crovetti, Susan Heyward, Valorie Curry, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Jensen Ackles, and Daveed Diggs.

After years of bloodshed, manipulation, and escalating chaos, The Boys is gearing up for its final round.
