THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD Reportedly Reunites Andy Muschietti With THE FLASH Writer Christina Hodson

After months of updates suggesting DC Studios’ The Brave and The Bold script was still being worked on, a new report claims to know who is writing it.

According to industry scooper Jeff Sneider, Christina Hodson has been tapped to write the screenplay, with Nexus Point News’ @ApocHorseman later backing that up by stating, "This is unfortunately true."

If accurate, the project would reunite Hodson with Andy Muschietti, who remains attached to direct after previously helming The Flash.

Hodson is already well established in DC circles. She wrote Birds of Prey and The Flash, making her no stranger to Gotham City or its darker corners. That history, however, has sparked a pretty split reaction online.

Neither film landed as a universal crowd-pleaser, so reactions range from cautious optimism to outright concern, depending on how you felt about those movies.

She also wrote Batgirl, the infamous DC project that Warner Bros. Discovery ultimately scrapped while in post-production after labeling it “unreleasable.” It was ultimatley used as a tax write-off.

DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has been vocal about his admiration for Hodson’s work. Back in 2023, he took to social media to say, "Christina's script for [The Flash] is magnificent; the fact that the movie works so well is a testament to her wonderful writing as well as Andy's glorious directing."

While Gunn championed the film, audience reception told a different story. The Flash currently sits at a 63% score on Rotten Tomatoes and earned a B CinemaScore, putting it among the lower-rated DCEU entries by that metric.

Gunn has also been carefully managing expectations around The Brave and The Bold. Last year, he said he liked where the script was headed but cautioned that "some things have changed" and that "plenty of things are in flux on what his situation is with his parentage and all that stuff."

When pressed on whether Damian Wayne is still part of the story, he responded, "I think you have to wait to see exactly what's happening."

Casting remains another big question mark. Gunn previously commented, "People can guess and maybe they'll be right about certain things. We’d have to screen test, we’d have to do the whole thing," before jokingly adding, "Okay, I see what you're doing. '1923', it's a really good TV show, like I can't believe how good that show was."

He later revealed, "One actor in particular, a pretty big star, wants to be Batman. We’ve talked about it, but I don’t think that’s the case."

What do you all think about Hodson writing the script for The Brave and The Bold?
