"The Child" in THE MANDALORIAN Brought Werner Herzog To Tears on The Set of the Series
Werner Herzog has already shared his high praise for Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian saying that the series is “cinema back at its best”. I’m sure that most Star Wars fans will agree with him on that.
Well, Herzog has shared some more thoughts regarding his time shooting the series and that includes the way he reacted to “The Child” in the series. That child is the 50-year-old baby Yoda-type character that The Mandalorian has taken under his wing. Turns out, it made him cry on the set of the film.
While talking to Variety, Hertzog shared:
“I saw two technicians operating it remotely. One was for the eyes and the mouth, and the other one was for other facial expressions. It’s a phenomenal technical achievement and beyond the technological achievement, it’s heartbreaking…On the set, it looked absolutely convincing. It made you cry when you saw it.”
Now, just imagine Werner Hertzog break down and cry as he watches this little baby Yoda character in action on the set of the film. The image in my imagination certainly puts a smile on my face. You can watch Hertzog share his experience in the interview below.
