The Classic '80s Series KNIGHT RIDER Is Getting a Feature Film Adaptation with James Wan Producing
Spyglass Media Group has teamed with Atomic Monster’s James Wan to produce a feature film based on the 1980s classic action series Knight Rider! Damn… I loved that show as a kid. Michael Knight and his car were so badass!
The series was created by Glen A. Larson, and it launched the career of David Hasselhoff. It followed Michael Knight and his smart-car, named KITT, that assists the mysterious crime-fighter in his adventures.
Former video game writer TJ Fixman (Ratchet and Clank and Resistance: Fall of Man) is writing the screenplay for the movie, which will be set in the present day. It will also maintain the anti-establishment tone of the original series. Other than that, there are no details on the story.
Knight Rider could actually make for a pretty awesome movie if the creative team handles it properly. There’s a lot of potential here, and I’m excited to see what Wan and the creative team he brings on do with it.
Fixman has also sold a number of scripts Including One Night On the Hudson to Universal Pictures, Brotherhood of Magic to MGM, and Men Who Kill to Fox with Greg Berlanti producing and Michael B. Jordan starring. He most recently sold an original pitch for a project titled Rogue to STX Films.
