The Classic 90's X-MEN Animated Series is Officially Getting a Revival on Disney+ and It's Titled X-MEN '97

It looks like Disney and Marvel are actually reviving the classic 90’s X-Men animated series for Disney+! The current title for the revival is X-Men ‘97.

The series will pick up where the original show left off, with several cast members from the original series returning! Some will reprise their original roles, and others will step into whole new roles.

Returning cast members include Cal Dodd, Lenore Zann, George Buza, Adrian Hough, Christopher Britton, Catherine Disher, Chris Potter, Alison Sealy-Smith, and Alyson Court. Some of the new cast members include Jennifer Hale, Anniwaa Buachie, Ray Chase, Matthew Waterson, JP Karliak, Holly Chou, Jeff Bennett, and AJ LoCascio.

Beau DeMayo (The Witcher, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf) is serving as head writer and executive producer of the series, and Jake Castorena will be the supervising director, with Charley Feldman as supervising producer. Consulting on the new series are X-Men: The Animated Series writers Eric and Julia Lewald and director Larry Houston.

X-Men ‘97 will premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2023. Fans have been asking for this for a long time, and Disney is actually granting them their wish! This is pretty cool! They better bring that original theme song back!

On top of that, there’s a new Spider-Man animated series being developed as well, titled Spider-Man: Freshman Year. It will be tied to the MCU while also evoking Marvel’s deeper history, with an aesthetic approach that "celebrates the character’s early comic book roots."

This show will follow Peter Parker on his journey to becoming Spider-Man within the MCU, suggesting the show might dramatize this Peter’s origin story.

Jeff Trammel, writer and actor on the Cartoon Network series "Craig of the Creek," is the head writer.

Then we have one more show to share with you that’s been announced! Marvel Zombies is an animated series that is inspired by the Marvel Comics limited series run written by Robert Kirkman with art by Sean Phillips that launched in late 2005. The series pretty much saw all the Avengers become zombies.

Marvel's "What If..." series played with this concept. It’s unclear if this Marvel Zombies series will be a spin-off of the What If...? episode or if it will chart its own course, but What If...? director Bryan Andrews is also set to direct the new series.

So there you have it! The new animated Marvel shows are coming to Disney+! What are you most excited about? Here are the logos!
