The Classic Easter Candy PEEPS Is Getting its Own Animated Feature Film
The classic sugar-coated marshmallow Easter candy Peeps is getting its very own animated feature film thanks to The Mauritanian producers Christine and Mark Holder of Wonder Street. They have acquired the film and TV rights to Peeps, and the film that’s currently in development is said to be in the same spirit of Trolls and Smurfs.
The story will follow “a ragtag group of Peeps characters who set out on a cross-country journey in order to attend Peepsfest, an annual brand celebration in Pennsylvania.” I actually like Peeps, but I have absolutely zero interest in watching a film based on them. But, who knows, maybe it’s something that the kids will enjoy? It’s safe to say that a movie based on Peeps isn’t going to be very good.
Just Born Inc. is the Bethlehem, PA-based candy company that produces Peeps candy and Keith Domalewski, Director of Marketing and Consumer Engagement at the company, said in a statement:
“Peeps Chicks and Bunnies have been ingrained in American pop culture for nearly seven decades due to their instantly recognizable shapes and fan-favorite marshmallow taste, making them the perfect characters to bring to life on the big screen. We hope the new Peeps film spreads sweetness to families across the country and provides inspiration for fans to express their ‘Peepsonality’ in new ways.”
David Goldblum is writing the film as well as producing alongside Wonder Street. I’d actually be much more interested in a Peeps horror movie!
