THE CLONE WARS Showrunner Dave Filoni Hints That Ahsoka Tano Is Still Alive in the STAR WARS Universe

Ahsoka Tano is a fan favorite Star Wars character, and the fans love it when she is included in any of the stories they tell. She was last seen in the series finale of Rebels alongside Sabine Wren attempting to track down Ezra Bridger. We don’t really know what her status is in the franchise, but when her voice was heard among the dead Jedi in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, fans immediately assumed that she had passed on. That might not be the case.

While talking to io9, The Clone Wars producer and showrunner Dave Filoni hinted that she might actually still be alive. When asked if her inclusion in that was proof that the Ahsoka was now dead, he said:

"I have to wonder with Star Wars fans. They seem to watch the movies but they don’t take all the lessons. They deal a lot in absolutes, which is very much a Sith thing. I remember in The Empire Strikes Back Luke speaking out through the force to Leia. Vader also does this at the end of Empire Strikes Back. There’s no absoluteness that these people are dead."

"I mean, some of them we know are dead. It doesn’t really have any big implications to what I’m doing with the character, to be honest. I just thought it was a really fun thing. I thought J.J. [Abrams]’s instinct to be so inclusive with all these various elements of Star Wars and characters [was great]. And I thought it would be a great thing for the actors involved to be a part of something that was just really this celebrating moment of the Star Wars saga."

"So when we get to that point [after The Rise of Skywalker] or if we’d ever reach that point again, I don’t know. I’m in this other timeline. I’m in a couple right now. I just honestly love that people ask about the character."

There’s a new Star Wars Rebels sequel series rumored to be in development that will definitely continue the story of Ahsoka and fill us in on what happened to the Jedi. Fans are also hoping that she will appear in The Mandalorian at some point. That certainly seems like the right place to introduce the live-action version of the character.

I personally hope that she’s not dead in the Star Wars universe, but I’m sure her fate will eventually be revealed in one of the many upcoming Star Wars projects.
