The CONSOLE WARS Trailer Delves into the War Between Nintendo and SEGA

“They were furious with us!"

"I did not expect the US Congress to get involved.”

CBS All Access has released the first trailer for its upcoming documentary Console Wars, which tells the story of the war between Nintendo and Sega. When I was growing up, my brothers and I were all about Sega. That was the side we chose, and I have no regrets. Sega was the underdog in this fight, and they certainly did put up one hell of a fight!

The doc comes from filmmakers Blake J. Harris and Jonah Tulis and here’s the synopsis:

Console Wars takes viewers back to 1990 when Sega, a fledgling arcade company, assembled a team of misfits to take on the greatest video game company in the world, Nintendo. It was a once-in-a-lifetime, no-holds-barred conflict that pit brother against brother, kids against grownups, Sonic against Mario, and uniquely American capitalism against centuries-old Japanese tradition. For the first time ever, the men and women who fought on the front lines for Sega and Nintendo discuss this battle that defined a generation.

I’m looking forward to watching this doc and seeing all of the crazy behind-the-scenes stories that it reveals. The movie is set to premiere at this year's SXSW Film Festival, and will then be released on the CBS streaming service later this month on September 23rd.

Console Wars was executive produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.
