The Creator of SQUID GAME is Already Talking To Netflix About Season 3

Squid Game was such an epically massive hit for Netflix. Creator Hwang Gon-hyuk previously confirmed that there will be a Season 2, but now he’s saying that he’s also in talks with Netflix about a Season 3. It makes sense that Netflix would want to get as much life out of this series franchise as they can.

During an interview with KBS in Korea (via The Koren Times), the creator of Squid Game said, "I'm in talks with Netflix over season 2 as well as season 3. We will come to a conclusion any time soon."

This news should make fans happy as we will at least be getting two more seasons. All we can hope for is that the story will continue to be interesting and the series will continue to push the shock value of the series. Let’s be honest, it was the shock value and ultra violence that kept people hooked and talking about the series.

When previously explaining the demand and pressure he’s been getting to keep the series going, Gon-hyuk said, "So, there's been so much pressure, so much demand, and so much love for a second season. So I almost feel like you left us with no choice. But, I will say there will indeed be a second season. It's in my head right now. I'm in the planning process currently. But I do think it's too early to say when and how that's going to happen.”

As for what he has envisioned for the future of the show, he didn’t offer any story details, but he did previously share, "I have a very high-level picture in my mind." He also said, "I would certainly not do it alone. I'd consider using a writers' room and would want multiple experienced directors."

He also offered some insight on the main character Gi-hun and his continuing story arc, saying, “His humanity is shown through a very passive manner. But I would think that in the second season, what he has learned from the games and his experience in the first season, they will all be put to use in a more active manner."

He went on to say, "And at the same time, as for the Front Man who was also a past winner but became a Front Man, it's like Darth Vader. Some end up Jedi and some become Darth Vader, right? I think that maybe Gi-hun will go through a certain critical point where he is put through a test as well."
