THE CROW Reboot is Moving Forward with Bill Skarsgård Set To Star and Rupert Sanders Directing
It looks like there’s going to be yet another attempt to reboot The Crow. This time around, Bill Skarsgård, who played Pennywise the Clown in the film adaptation of Stephen King’s It, will star in the reboot. The movie also has a new director with Rupert Sanders, who is best known for helming Snow White and the Huntsman and Ghost in the Shell. The script will be written by Zach Baylin, who was recently nominated for an Oscar for his work on King Richard.
Skarsgård will take on the role of Eric Draven and the story follows a man and his fiancée who are assaulted and killed by a gang after their car breaks down. The man is resurrected by a crow and embarks on a dark journey of vengeance on those who took his life and the life of his fiancée.
The Crow is based on the comic created by James O'Barr, and the original 1994 film, which starred Brandon Lee, is the one and only adaptation that a lot of fans feel they need. But, Hollywood still isn’t giving up on trying to reboot it!
Director Corin Hardy (The Hallow, The Nun) was previously developing a reboot of The Crow, and he was working on it for years. Jason Momoa was set to star and the movie was about to go into production when the whole thing just fell apart. As you can see by the casting, they are taking this next attempt to reboot the film in a completely different direction with the casting.
Longtime Crow rights owner Edward R. Pressman and Malcolm Gray, a co-producer on the 2019 Chadwick Boseman thriller 21 Bridges, are producing.
The new project is currently in pre-production and is expected to start shooting in June in Prague and Munich. The budget is in the $50 million range, and according to the report, “it does appear like it will actually take flight.”
What do you all think about this latest attempt to remake The Crow?
