THE CROWN's Claire Foy Up For the Role of Lisbeth Salander in THE GIRL IN THE SPIDER'S WEB
Sony Pictures may have found their new Lisbeth Salander in the upcoming film The Girl in the Spider's Web, which is the sequel/reboot of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. According to Variety, The Crown star Claire Foy is the current front-runner for the part after the studio met with dozens of actresses.
No offer has been made, but she is a great actress and it would be interesting to see her in the role. The role has previously been played by Rooney Mara and Noomi Rapace, both of which were great as the character! Foy would definitely bring something new and different to the role and I think she could pull it off.
There may be one thing standing in the way of her taking the part, and that is that the actress is also meeting with La La Land director Damien Chazelle to take on the female lead role in his new film, First Man. She would star alongside Ryan Gosling, who is playing Neil Armstrong. There might be a scheduling conflict there.
According to insiders, if Foy does get the official offer to play Salander, she'll take it. Don't Breathe and Evil Dead director Fede Alvarez will helm The Girl in the Spider's Web. Sony Pictures plans on releasing it on October 19th, 2018.
What do you all think about the possibility of Foy taking on the role of Lisbeth Salander? Do you think she could do the character justice?
