Here’s the synopsis for the series:
“Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane (Rose) soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.”
I actually really enjoyed Rose’s version of Batwoman, and I’m curious to see how this standalone series will turn out. The show is being written by Caroline Dries (The Vampire Diaries), who will also serve as showrunner. Sarah Schechter and Geoff Johns will executive produce along with Greg Berlanti.
The show will also star Dougray Scott, Elizabeth Anweis, Meagan Tandy, Camrus Johnson, Nicole Kang, and Rachel Skarsten. When previously talking about the Batwoman, Rose had this to say:
“She is more fun because she’s a billionaire, she has ladies that love her. I think, for the most part, crossover-wise, she’s swaggy. She always knew who she was, but she’s really coming into knowing who she is in the crossover, and with Batwoman as well. It’s not the first time she’s put on the suit.”
The CW also gave series orders for the Riverdale spinoff Katy Keene and Nancy Drew. You can check out some promo art released for those shows below.
