The CW's NANCY DREW Series Will Have a Supernatural Twist to It
With some of the old standards of the CW network on their way out this season, people are going to be looking for some new series to fill the void. One new series that is on its way in is the newest Nancy Drew series. In an interview with THR, CW’s network president Mark Pedowitz had to say this about the upcoming series:
"We're happy with Nancy Drew, which will have a supernatural twist to it," Pedowitz explained.
The synopsis for the series is as follows:
“The new Nancy Drew series revolves around an 18-year-old Nancy in the summer after her high school graduation. Rather than leaving her hometown for college, a family tragedy holds her back another year as she finds herself embroiled in a murder investigation while uncovering secrets that run deeper than she ever imagined.”
Newcomer Kennedy McMann will play the role of Nancy, with Freddie Prinze Jr. (24, Star Wars Rebels) as Nancy’s father, Carson Drew. With the success that the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina series has had, I think a supernatural version of Nancy Drew could really work. The CW seems to have a pretty good grasp on this genre, so it will be fun to see how this series comes to life.
